Cho Oyu is the world's sixth highest mountain and considered by many as the easiest of the fourteen 8000m peaks. This is mainly due to the ease of access which is achieved utilizing vehicles to the base of the mountain and a two day trek in hiking boots to the base camp at 5600m. The climbing route has only a few short technical sections yet is direct, allowing climbers to gain altitude without covering a lot of distance.
As with all ascents at high altitude the climbing is strenuous and requires a high standard of fitness but as a peak to experience the thin air at 8000m for the first time, Cho Oyu is ideal. A team of Sherpas will accompany the expedition to provide the carrying power and to ensure the high camps are well stocked. Travel high solu has operated many successful expeditions to Cho Oyu .
As well as providing excellent base camp food and comfort, makes the possibility of taking those final steps onto an 8200m summit that much greater.
Our route does transverse first driving all the way to Cho-Oyu Base Camp, crossing the Nepalese Border and continuing via Nyalam and Tingri. The way near to Base Camp involves a normal drive at high altitude, but rewards with powerful views of Cho - Oyu (8201m) to the north. Further will be realm of the glaciers, surrounded by the unforgettable presence of the world's mightiest mountains. Normally, we set up four camps in the approach excluding Advanced Base Camp. Thereafter starts our main attempt to scale the summit (8201m).
