Many of Nepal’s peaks are either on the higher “Expedition Peaks List” or lower "Trekking Peaks List" and require government permits.
Lower mountains, (up to 19,000’!) usually don’t require any special permits and can be climbed during the course of a trek. Examples of these lower peaks, or "high viewpoints" include Gokyo Ri, above the Gokyo Lakes in the Khumbu and Yala Peak in the Langtang. Neither is technically difficult, although trekkers must be well acclimated to successfully climb them. For the first time visitor to Nepal, these peaks can offer an inexpensive and informal way to experience the challenges of high altitude.
Some routes on the "Trekking Peaks List" are relatively easy, requiring little or no technical experience or equipment. Others can offer difficult climbing on snow, ice, and rock. Travel High Solu can offer guides, support, and equipment for all types of mountaineering. Please contact us if you have an interest in a mountaineering experience or full fledged expedition, and we can tailor a trip for your abilities, time requirements, and interests.
