Dolpo is located in the Shey- Phoksundo National Park of mid western Nepal, behind the Himalayas (Dhaulagiri mountain range) towards the vast Tibetan Plateau. The Lake features in the famous documentary, CARAVAN is great interest for visitors. The lake cuts the deepest gorge and owing to extreme geographical factors, not even fish can survive in the lake. As it is in the isolated part of Nepal, there the nature seems to have remained exactly the same as it was first created- unharmed and unaltered. Undisturbed and preserved for centuries now. Blue sheep, leopards and other interesting Himalayan animals are still there in that region. The Route of Juphal- Dunai- Dho- Phoksundo- Jumla is the very interesting trek.
The trek on Lower Dolpo to Jumla region is quite an experience of a lifetime.
