Poonhill trekking is most popular route among Annapurna region treks, where every trekkers can experience unique cultures, panoramic view of the Himalayas,Best sunrise view, wide varieties of Flora and Fauna, Wildlives,terraced fields and typical villages of ethnic Gurung, Magar and many other communities.
There is a several routes to make the trek of Poonhill. Generally the trek starts from Pokhara,driving an hour to Nayapul, then crossing the Modi river and following the valley of north west through the villages and forests we reach the Ghorepani(2855m),which is the highest point we stop overnight with all good facilities of Lodges. Poonhill is the short hike after Ghorepani at the altitude of 3200m. Which should not present any altitude problems, but it is high enough to need warm clothings at night and morning. The Poonhill named by the inhabited (Poon Magar) community of the area. We can see the best sunrise view and panoramic view of the mountain ranges(8000m peaks) including Dhaulagiri(8167m), Annapurna I(8091m), fishtail(6991m), Annapurna II, Annapurna South, Mardi Himal and dozens of other snowy peaks if the weather permits. Also we can observe the great varieties of flora and Fauna including Rhododendrons, orchids and Maples, typical Magar and gurung villages of Ghandruk, different faces, religions, climate and Topography. Thus creating an intresting trekking to Poonhill(3200m)can be done almost all the year round.This trek will take minimum 6 days to 3 weeks which we can extend the trek to ABC or Jomsom,as per your timeframe, easily can costomize the itinerary.
