The Helambu-Panch Pokhari(5 Holy Lakes) trekking area lies at the base of Jugal Himal, towards the north east of Kathmandu Valley and bordering Tibet to its north, situated at an altitude of 4100 meter, is an area holding great importance of religious significance which is also the home to the famous Sherpa and Tamang people.
This trek offers pristine mountain views, rich cultural diversity, unsurpassed natural beauty, combination of rich cultural heritage, wild lifes and biological diversity. Mostly done with camping treks as well home stay facilities are available, which can experienced through untouched traditional villages and people with great Himalayan vista and landscape. Passing through the beautiful villages, dense forest, meadows and terrace field the trek offers excellent views of Jugal Himal, Rolwaling himalayan ranges and part of the Gosainkunda area giving true exposure to the typical Nepalese lifestyle, tradition, uses and custom of local communities.
It is the nearest destination from Kathmandu. Every year in July full moon there is a festival at Panchpokhari, thousand of pilgrimages come from the villages far away, lots of shaman (Jhakri) comes with traditional dress to make their dream true and get the blessing.
