Dhaulagiri Trekking (19 Days Package Trip)

Dhaulagiri Trekking Dhaulagiri Trekking

Dhaulagiri region is separated from Annapurna region by Kaligandaki gorge, deepest gorge in the world, including some 15 peaks above 7000 meter. This region is considered to be one of the most remote trekking area of Nepal, has abundance of Himalayan peaks, hidden valleys, high passes and sweeping vistas. The trans-Himalayan journey is quite, peaceful and full of adventure and excitement. Trekking in this area is strenuous but trekkers willing to spend their holidays amid nature and natural surroundings full of peace and tranquility chose this "off the beaten path " trekking destination. This trek is always done with a well supervised and guided group with sensible equipments.

We will take 30 minutes breath taking flight to Pokhara, the picturesque town and stay overnight in a nice hotel near the lakeside. From here we drive to Darbang to start the trek. We will walk few days along the south of the Dhaulagiri Massif, first along the Kali Gandaki and after that through the Myagdi Khola valley. The Dhaulagiri Massif is one of the most impressive mountain areas in the Himalayas. We follow increasingly difficult paths high above the Myagdi Khola river. As the terrain becomes steeper, the trekking days become necessarily shorter, so that we can slowly acclimatize to the high altitude through italian basecamp and Dhaulagiri Basecamp at an altitude of 4750m. We stay in base camp for one day to acclimatize and to explore views of the surrounding mountains. The toughest day of the trek is the crossing of French pass (5360m) to reach our highest camp site is in the Hidden Valley, located at 5050m. In clear weather conditions, this section of the trek is not too difficult, but the Hidden Valley and the Dhampus Pass should not be under estimated and are notorious for attracting bad weather. From Dhampus Pass we hope to enjoy breathtaking views on Tukuche Peak(6920m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri and the Annapurna ranges. After the difficult descent down the north side of Dhampus Pass we finally reach Marpha, which is on the Annapurna trekking route. From Jomsom, we fly back to Pokhara and Kathmandu.
