Jumla, one of the highest rice- growing areas in Nepal is located on the banks of the Tila Khola at the height of 2370 meters. There are different ways of reaching this remote area of western Nepal, but the faster way is to fly to Jumla. From Jumla to Rara Lake you walk through Juniper forests, villages mostly inhabited by Thakuris and cross some passes of about 3500m altitudes. Rara Lake, the biggest lake of Nepal and snow capped peaks abandoned from people, is for trekkers who love the wilderness. There is still much wildlife around the lake and may be even a chance to see a snow leopard. For returning, there is another route from the western end of the lake.
