This is one of the popular adventure tour to Tibet. You start your journey from Kathmandu airport flight to the Lhasa(3650M) and free afternoon for the acclimatization.You will be escorted 2 full days sightseeing tour in Lhasa city of Sera monastery; Jokhang temple & Barkhor Street on the second day,Visit Potala palace, Drepung Monastery & Norbulingka.En-route to Lhasa stop at Gyantse to visit the golden pagoda or Palgor Chorten. It is the most famous monument in Tibet. It was built in 15th century for worship only. The top of the pagoda is made of copper heavily gilded with gold. On the last day of the travel you drive along the shore of Yamdrok-lake. To the Tibetan it is known as "Turquoise Lake". The road gradually climbs up to Kamba-la pass(4786m) and descends to the valley. The journey from the floor of the valley is about 1 hour spectacular drive along the bank of Brahmaputra river. Next stop is at Shigatse. Tashilhunpo monastery, in Shigatshe, is the most important monastery outside Lhasa. The first Dalai Lama founded it in 1447, in the honor of his teacher Kadrub. Gendun Zhuba was the first abbot of the monastery. In 1600 at the invitation of the monastery the 4th Panchen Lama became 16th abbot making the monastery official abbot of the Panchen Lama. Drive to Tsedang via Samye monastery(340kms from Shigatse and visit the tomb of the king; Yumbulakhang & Chamdrok temple. Then drive back to Lhasa for your flight back to Kathmandu. Anyone with reasonably good physical fitness and in good health can take this trip.
We recommend at least 2 to 3 nights in Kathmandu to allow sufficient time to process visa.
