The Langtang-Gosainkunda trek is one of the popular trekking areas in Nepal because of being so close by the Kathmandu to the north easily accessible by road transportation. Langtang National park was designated as the first Himalayan National park in 1970. The area extends from 32 KM north of Kathmandu to Tibet border. The highest peak in the area is Langtang Lirung(7200m). The variation in the altitude and the topography along with the existing forest provide habitat for a wide range of animals including Himalayan black bear, Ghoral, Pika, Longur monkeys and the endangered red panda. The trail to this area passes through many Tamang and Tibetan villages offering an excceptional diversity of culture and fine views of Langtang himalayan ranges, Ganesh Himal ranges and Many more.
The trek starts from the small town of SyabruBensi. We walk through the dense forests of Bamboo, Oaks, pines and Mapples following the narrow valley along Langtang Khola to the north-east. Once we get to Goratabela(2900m), the Langtang valley get wider and one can see Massif Langtang range rising above the skyline.Then heading up to Langtang village which is the biggest settlement of the area influenced by the pure tibetan culture. Once we reach the Kyngjin Gompa; the last settlement where is many lodges are run all year round. From there we start day hike up to Kyangjin Ri(4700m) or Tsherko Ri(4980M) for the spectacular himalayan views including Langtang lirung, Gangchhenpo, DorjeLakpa, Langsisa Ri, Yala peak, Naya Kang, Morimoto peak and many more.We will be back same route to Bamboo and trek to the north eastern side. Gosainkunda is the famous pilgrimage site for both hindus and Buddhists. The area have many holy lakes such as; Suryakunda, SaraswotiKunda, Bhairabkunda, Bhutkunda etc. Once we go other side of the lauribinayak pass is Helambu valley, a cultural journey of Nepal.
